Capital Campaign has begun

Morning Star achievement center building

Morning Star’s Creating Our Furture capital campaign is investing $3,000,000 to expand and improve our campus facilities providing:

  • needed space for the Transition Program and growing high school enrollment
  • strengthened campus security
  • space for life skills classrooms
  • efficient traffic flow and improved parking

Our vision focuses on creating the spaces and providing the resources necessary to meet the critical need and growing demand for a Transition Program providing educational options for our high school graduates. The entire project will strengthen our school for all our students, kindergarten through age 22.

This is an exciting and pivotal time in Morning Star School’s history. Please support us as we create a school that will meet the needs of our students – grade school, high school and young adult – with identified learning challenges.

If you are interested in helping our dreams become a reality, please reach out to our school, 727-544-6036 or email our principal, Mrs. Sue Conza.

John Prine, 1946-2020

On Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Morning Star School lost a friend. Singer-Songwriter John Prine was a friend of Morning Star School over the years and we were blessed to have him visit the faculty, staff and students just a few short months ago. Ms. Vinachi and Mrs. Ochoa-Rowland dedicate their rendition of Angel of Montgomery to all the people who loved John, especially Joe and Jonah Nuzzo. God bless and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Give a Cheer for the New School Year

We’ve had a great start to the 2016-2017 school year. The Back-to-School BBQ on August 9th was a success. Thanks to all of our families, board members, teachers and staff who braved the rainy weather to attend. A BIG thank you to event chairperson Kate Hodges and her team of parent volunteers for coordinating the event. Current enrollment is 80 students. We welcome new teacher Laura Humphrey along with teacher’s assistant Jenelle Vinachi to Morning Star.  Kim Strickland, SLP, with Kids’ Clinic of Tampa Bay will be visiting the school twice a week with therapy dogs Dimitri and Tillie (retired).  We are so excited to see what the year holds for our students!
