Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

All proceeds raised during Give Day Tampa Bay 2017 will go towards bringing Mad Science workshops to our school in 2017-2018. Mad Science offers a turn-key, enrichment curriculum that makes science fun for our students. The program sparks imaginative learning through a hands-on, interactive, and inquiry-based approach to science.  The workshops, presented by highly-trained Mad Scientists, align with STEM fundamental & Florida State Standards.

Give a Cheer for the New School Year

We’ve had a great start to the 2016-2017 school year. The Back-to-School BBQ on August 9th was a success. Thanks to all of our families, board members, teachers and staff who braved the rainy weather to attend. A BIG thank you to event chairperson Kate Hodges and her team of parent volunteers for coordinating the event. Current enrollment is 80 students. We welcome new teacher Laura Humphrey along with teacher’s assistant Jenelle Vinachi to Morning Star.  Kim Strickland, SLP, with Kids’ Clinic of Tampa Bay will be visiting the school twice a week with therapy dogs Dimitri and Tillie (retired).  We are so excited to see what the year holds for our students!

A Special Mother’s Day at Great Explorations

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
On Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, Morning Star was the community partner at the Great Explorations Children’s Museum in downtown St. Pete. The museum was only open to kids with special needs and their families from 10am – 12noon and offered activities and treats for those in attendance. Our goal was to make it a great time for all those hardworking, loving mamas and their families. Moms got in free with a paid admission. There were treats included in the admission like arts and crafts, light refreshments from Dunkin Donuts and giveaways by Toni & Guy, Target, Suncoast Surf Shop and Great Ex. Families also had fun in the photo booth that was sponsored by Emergency Physicians of St. Petersburg. Ms. Tabatha, Morning Star’s dance teacher, had a movement class for the kids too. According to Great Ex, about 60 people were in attendance.

The staff at Great Ex was lovely and welcoming. Thank you Great Explorations for letting us be a part of this program honoring moms!

On February 25th, the Pinellas Park Rotary Club honored Rotary member and long-time Morning Star School supporter, Mr. Jerry Krauss. He was presented with the Rotary International Vocational Leadership Award for his sharing of Rotary ideals. Through his work with his bowling centers (Seminole and Sunrise Lanes), Mr. Krauss has shown his dedication to Morning Star School, Pinellas County Schools and the community. Speakers at the luncheon included District Governor Will Miller, Kevin Krauss, Richard Breske, Judge Irene Sullivan, Casey Neubert, Michelle Topping and Buddy Brown. Mrs. Conza attended the luncheon and awards ceremony. “Mr. Krauss has been a generous supporter of Morning Star from the school’s inception. We are blessed to have such a stalwart benefactor.
I am so happy to attend this wonderful celebration,” said Mrs. Conza.

MSSPP Gets a New Playground

Because of grants from Guardian Trust, ‪#‎CarCreditCares‬ (part of Car Credit of Tampa), Publix Super Markets Charities, Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club and parent fundraising and a little hard work, a new playground was installed at Morning Star School last week. We are MIGHTILY BLESSED! The students were so happy and excited to get out there on the new equipment. Thank you to Wayne Armand of Project Innovations Inc. for putting together a wonderful play area for the kids. Their smiling faces and words of gratitude make everything worth it.
