October 26th is right around the corner! We are busily working on the final details in order to make this year’s auction our biggest –and most fun–event ever. Artwork from some of the students of Morning Star is on display during the month of October at the Morean Art Center and in the rotunda of the Pastoral Center, both located in St. Petersburg. Entitled SCAPES: City, Land & Word, the exhibits are influenced by the styles of artists Udomsak Krisanamis, David Hockney, Paul Morrison, Mickalene Thomas, and Graham Gillmore. Thank you to our amazing art teacher, Ms. Miles, for her dedication and vision.
The Morean Art Center, located at 719 Central Avenue, will display the works from October 8th – 20th. There will be a reception on Saturday, October 12th, from 5p-8p.
The artwork will be showcased in the rotunda of the Pastoral Center throughout October 2013. The address is 6363 9th Avenue N.

Andrea Walls with Off The Walls Photography will be at Morning Star on Thursday, October 10th to take both class and individual student pictures. For Individual Photos: Candid and posed photos will be taken of each student on picture day. Order forms with proof sheets for all individual pictures will be handed out approximately one week after picture day. Payment is due when the order is placed. For Class Photos: Payment for the class photo is due on or before picture day, October 10th.
School uniforms are optional for picture day.

Are you on Facebook & want an easy-breezy way to raise money for Morning Star? The Give with Target campaign is back for a second year! Just click here and vote for our school. (Or head to www.facebook.com/target) Once we get 25 votes, Target will donate $1 for every vote we receive–up to $10,000. The campaign runs until September 21 or until $5 million has been allocated. Last year, the $5 million was dispersed before the deadline was up—so please remember to vote every week! Invite friends and family to vote for us too. The donations received from Target will be used for school supplies and new PE equipment. Thank you!
Summer camp wrapped up yesterday at Morning Star. A big thank you to Ms. Debbie & Mrs. Steele for creating such fun and engaging programs for the kids to enjoy.
The Back to School Orientation is right around the corner on Friday, August 16th beginning at 3 pm. Students may meet their teachers and classmates, tour their classrooms, and purchase uniform and PE shirts. A family BBQ will follow in the OTHERS Hall. We’ll supply the burgers, hot dogs and drinks and request that families bring a side dish or dessert to share. It’s a great way to kick off the new school year!
The following is the school supply list for the 2013-2014 school year. At the beginning of school, each classroom teacher will provide her own additional list of supplies, if needed.
- 1 pair of scissors
- 2 boxes of Kleenex
- 2 packages of white copy paper
- 2 glue sticks
- 1 zippered pencil bag
- 1 large eraser
- 1 set of headphones labeled with student’s name
- 1 package of colored pencils
Morning Star School will offer 4 weeks of summer camp this year! Camp is available to Morning Star students.

Week 3: July 22, 23, 24, 25
Week 4: July 29, 30, 31, & August 1
COST: $125 per week

ASSISTANTS: High School Students from St. Pete Catholic & Clearwater Central Catholic
Daily activities will include academics, instructional activities, arts and crafts, cooking, sign language, music and movement, free play, board games and sports. Campers must bring their own lunch. It’s been another wonderful year at Morning Star School. It is hard to believe that the last day of school, June 7th, is just around the corner. Please note that pick up will be at 11:00am that day. Thank you to all the teachers, staff, students, and parents who make ours such a special community. Over the summer, we at Morning Star will be working hard on adding classrooms for our high school students, updating the school website and exploring fundraising opportunities. Our summer office hours are M-TH, 9:00am – 3:00pm.

Hello All! We met our sales goal with our chocolate fundraiser. The school raised $3000 to help provide updated technology in each of the classrooms. We will have these results available to you during Parent-Teacher conferences on Friday, May 17th.
